BIS V FLex

The BIS V FLex liquid handling system for Solid Phase Extraction can handle any organic/inorganic buffers, with the ability to bulk dispense from reservoirs. The bulk dispensing increases the throughput by more than 2 times, as it eliminates the need to aspirate, move and dispense the buffer, and also saves valuable deck space. The closed compact footprint provides a safe working environment for the researcher, by venting the harmful chemical vapors directly into a standard chemical hood. The ability to move the shelves in the horizontal direction with the probe head with the integrated gripper, enables the instrument to occupy only 20-25% of the space of comparable liquid handling instrument.

Most of the liquid handling instruments out in the market are not designed for Solid Phase Extraction ie. Drug Discovery applications mainly from the solvent compatibility issue. Current liquid handling instruments providers normally modify generalized liquid handling software to serve the Solid Phase Extraction protocol requirements.

The BIS V FLex liquid handling system for Solid Phase Extraction is designed to serve the Forensics & Toxicology, Drug Discovery and Combinatorial Chemistry markets. The SPE protocols have been written specifically for the application, with the ability to do initial sample clean-up and provide multiple elution steps.

The instrument currently is designed to extract the analyte, provide optional dry-down of the buffer, reconstitute the sample, and initiate downstream analysis, using a LC or GC-MS. The instrument is being modified to add external devices like shakers and reactor blocks so that one could perform combinatorial chemistry and Pharmaco-kinetic assays on the V FLex instrument.

Features:

  • Modular Vertical configuration with small footprint facilitates ability to add external modules without requiring more bench space.
  • External bulk reagent dispensing ( 25 µl ? 10 ml), saving critical desk space and significantly increasing the throughput supporting organic and inorganic buffers for SPE applications with integrated 8 way valve (upto 6 buffers excluding system fluid).
  • Disposable Tips to ensure sample integrity ( 1000 µl ? 20 µl).
  • Four probe with independent axis configurations enables cherry picking for use with 96-well plates and test tubes with optional variable span. The flexible format supports 384-well plates, test tubes, other types of vials.
  • Gripper Hand Option facilitates transfer of manifold top or tubes or vials for fully unattended operation using the dual vacuum manifold.
  • 3 Level vacuum control for columns, and pulsing vacuum for plates that enables low elution volumes (100 µl). PID controlled vacuum provides uniform reproducible vacuum conditions, independent of the number of samples being processed
  • Intuitive and Flexible Software Interface for SPE and Drug Discovery Applications ideal for production and methods development.
  • Enclosed system designed to handle chemical vapors, hood compatible.
  • Optional Bar coding.

Applications

  • Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) for Chromatographic Analysis, Blood, Drug Abuse Testing, Forensics Applications.
  • Sample transfer of Test Tube and/or Vials for Micro plates.
  • DNA/RNA Purification, PCR Preparation, Enzyme Reaction Setup.
  • Magnetic Bead Separation.
  • Re-formatting, Cherry-Picking, Low Volume Dispensing.
  • Other Custom Applications.
